A curated scale modelling event is taking shape
KSM Scale Model Showcase
Built for a Stronger Modelling Community
The KSM Scale Model Showcase is moving forward in a new standalone direction.
Kawartha Scale Modellers is rebuilding the Showcase as a curated scale-modelling event with its own identity, structure, operating standards, and public presentation. Before KSM releases a confirmed date or opens registration, the foundation is being shaped properly: the Model Hall, competition program, Vendor Market, sponsorship structure, volunteer support, visitor flow, and overall show experience.
More Than a Model Show
The KSM Scale Model Showcase is being developed as a serious regional scale-modelling event with a clear identity, a controlled presentation standard, and a stronger visitor experience.
This is not being built as a rushed table sale, a generic hobby swap, or a noisy walk-through event. The Showcase is being shaped around craftsmanship, presentation, community, and a better-paced day for modellers, visitors, vendors, sponsors, and families.
The objective is a curated Model Hall, a well-organized Vendor Market, a credible competition program, and a show experience that reflects the quality of the modelling community it represents.
Showcase Priorities
- Curated Model Hall
- Structured Competition Program
- Focused Vendor Market
- Sponsorship Development
- Volunteer Support
- Stronger Visitor Flow
For Modellers
The Model Hall is intended to be the centrepiece of the KSM Scale Model Showcase. KSM’s goal is to create a setting where scale models can be viewed properly, appreciated carefully, and presented with the respect the work deserves.
Whether the model is armour, aircraft, automotive, civilian, marine, sci-fi, fantasy, figures, vignettes, or dioramas, the purpose is the same: show the work properly, give it room to breathe, and build an event that treats scale modelling seriously.
For Vendors
The Vendor Market remains an important part of the KSM Scale Model Showcase concept. KSM’s intent is to create a vendor environment connected to a focused scale-modelling audience, not just general foot traffic.
Vendor registration is not open at this time. Once the event date, venue, table structure, pricing, setup process, and registration details are finalized, KSM will release vendor information publicly and contact interested vendors directly.
For Visitors
The KSM Scale Model Showcase is being developed for people who want more than a quick walk through a hall. Visitors can expect a future event built around scale model displays, competition entries, vendor shopping, club presence, conversation, and a stronger community atmosphere.
The goal is to create a day where people can look closely, ask questions, meet builders, discover the hobby, reconnect with the modelling community, and leave with a stronger impression of what scale modelling can be.
Why the New Direction Matters
The Showcase is being moved into a stronger standalone direction with its own structure, identity, operating standards, and public presentation.
KSM is using this development stage to build the event properly before releasing a date, opening registration, or committing vendors and attendees to unfinished details. A credible show is not built by rushing an announcement. It is built by locking the foundation first.
Regional Scale Modelling, Built Properly
Kawartha Scale Modellers believes the region can support a stronger scale-modelling event. The Showcase is being shaped for modellers and visitors from Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, Durham Region, Oshawa, Whitby, Clarington, Bowmanville, Belleville, the GTA, and surrounding areas.
The objective is not simply to hold another hobby event. The objective is to build a better one.
Current Status
The KSM Scale Model Showcase is being developed in a new standalone format.
A confirmed date, venue, Vendor Market structure, competition details, sponsorship information, and registration process will be released when they are locked. KSM is building the framework first so the public launch is clear, credible, and ready to support the event properly.
Official updates will be posted through Kawartha Scale Modellers.
